This weekend brings the semi-annual Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show to New York. Over 60 vendors, including A Current Affair co-founders Scout and NEW/FOUND will be on hand offering a wide array of vintage fashion items. The show happens Friday April 20 and Saturday April 21. We just finalized the first ever ad for our vintage show and online vintage marketplace, which will be published in the program for the Manhattan Vintage show in two weeks. The ad stars model Sid, whose portrait was recently included in the exhibit California Song by Hedi Slimane at MoCA. You can also see Sid in this video by Slimane. We used Sid for our March show postcard and got an amazing response from everyone about her. The look we chose for the ad is a clash of color, texture, and print that includes a vintage indigenous embroidered Guatemalan serape courtesy of Prism of Threads, and a pair of 1990s floral Dolce and Gabbana jeans from Marie Monsod. The photo was shot by the amazingly talented Christina von Messling and design by The Look Partnership.

Collection 02 of our online vintage pop-up shop was featured today in Daily Candy. We’ve already sold several items but some of the best pieces—including a Chanel 2.55 Reissue bag in navy blue patent leather—are still available. There are also some vintage Judith Leiber exotic skin clutches and a selection of spring floral dresses. Susana Mercedes silhouettes exhibit the art of a designer who pays homage to tradition and defies tradtion in the same moment. Inspired by all the great artists, she emphasizes the importance of each individual piece, not bound by the constraints.

We’re so happy that Jeana Sohn of closetvisit.com will be hosting this weekend’s show. Jeana is photographer and filmmaker who has given us a peek inside the closet and world of some of LA’s most fashionable ladies. Some recent subjects of closetvisit include LA editor of Refinery 29 Brenna Egan, designer Raquel Allegra, and previous ACA host Melissa Coker. Jeana will curate 10 head-to-toe vintage looks pulled from throughout our show that will be on exhibit and available for purchase.

We’re excited to announce the opening of our online pop-up store! The premiere of A Current Affair’s online vintage shop will coincide with our Spring 2012 show happening March 17+18. The site will feature unique items from various A Current Affair exhibitors. The first collection, to launch March 17th at 9am PDT, will feature items as varied as a 1970′s Gucci lizard clutch, modern clothing items from Issey Miyake, and a Victorian amber and sterling silver pendant necklace.

Producers of A Current Affair Joey Grana of Scout, and Richard Wainwright of NEW/FOUND, will curate the items and initially limit each collection to 25 items. They will be available for purchase for 30 days, and a new collection will premiere every two weeks. “The idea is to capture both the excitement of a pop-up and the curatorial eye we feel we’ve brought to our shows, and put it online,” states Wainwright. The premiere collection will be available March 17th through April 12th and will include items from Just Say Native, Marie Monsod, Siren Vintage, and Fashion by Robert Black. The second collection will run March 29-April 26.
